We pretty well all know now that the term “camping holidays” applies to all sorts of things like mobile home holidays or staying in a static caravan as well as tent camping or camping under canvas. Even “canvas” is rarely canvas these days and is more likely to be man made fabric.

But tent camping per se is cheap camping, and if you want one of the cheapest and most enjoyable holidays abroad, say in France for instance, then this is for you, and you can have a seriously good holiday there for just a few Euros per night. Does that appeal?

If you are new or relatively new to the camping lifestyle and you are going to buy some equipment for your holiday then either take someone with you who knows what they’re talking about, or take some serious advice from the (hopefully) professional person in the store.

Getting the right size tent is all important because the manufacturers will state that it is a 2 berth or 3 berth tent, but that doesn’t take into account your luggage, sleeping bags or anything else, so you may well need to look for something a tad larger than the makers recommend.
