Camping Chateaux lez Eaux, St Pair-sur-Mer, Normandy
Details of Camping Chateau lez Eaux are further down the page
Chateau lez Eaux is located in the small town of St Pair-sur-Mer which is on the westward side of the Cherbourg peninsular and just a tiny bit south of the much larger town of Granville. This region of Normandy is called Manche, and to get here we suggest your ferry port should be either Cherbourg, Caen or St Malo, but St Pair is not very far from any of them.
The parc, or campsite of Chateau lez Eaux is popular as a stopover for visitors on self drive holidays going either to or from the ferry as it is located close to the main route down the Cherbourg peninsula.
This is a quiet and friendly campsite, small by the standards of many other sites, but the old saying that the best things come in small packages also applies here because this is a 5 Star site, and believe you me, a 5 Star rating takes a great deal of hard work and expenditure to achieve. This is a top quality parc set in the parklands of a beautiful château.
Everything here is set in the grounds of the Manor house or Chateau, and are excellent facilities here, which include a beautifully landscaped and recently remodelled, covered water park that’s complete with slides and a waterchute which is great fun for all ages The covered waterpark area and an extended bar means all the family can make the most of their holiday whatever the time of year.
There is also a small lake here so you can try your hand at fishing free of charge whenever you like – but remember to put the fish back afterwards!
Camping Chateau lez Eaux is ideal for young families and the friendly owners work extremely hard to make your stay here enjoyable. Once a week during the high season, the parc offers a gastronomy evening where you can sample some fantastic traditional French cuisine.
Nearby is the town of Avranches which is a town rich in history just to the south of St Pair. Avranches is built on a hill facing the Bay of Mont St Michel and has a unique view over the Mont.
Obviously le Mont-St-Michel has to be the No1 “must see” on anyone’s list of places to visit, and in truth this is a wonder to behold, so you will not be surprised to know that it is the most visited place in France. Beware of the costs associated with le Mont and you will be well advised to check these out before committing yourself to a visit – also, you can expect to have to climb a great many steps!
