About the Italian Lakes
The Italian Lakes area is a wonderful place to explore and it is a great area for self drive holidays. You can enjoy a visit to Italy’s largest magical theme park - Gardaland – while on a camping holiday in the Italian Lakes, and there are a great many attractions to enjoy, whatever age you may be.
Monte Baldo – take a trip on the 1,600m cable car ride from Malcesine at the foot of Monte Balso to experience the stunning views over the lake.
Lake Maggiore Parco del Mattarone – take a cable car trip to Monte Mattarone, the highest peak of Lake Maggiore, and discover magnificent views of the entire region.
Borromean Islands – one of Lake Maggiore most popular attractions, the islands can be easily reached by the local ferry service from Stresa. While here explore the beautiful Plazzo Borromeo.
Getting there Short sea crossing From Calais it is a 760 mile drive to Lake Garda. Lake Maggiore is around 650 miles from Calais.
By air There are many low-cost airlines operating routes into Italy - flying is an obvious choice for a camping holiday in the Italian Lakes. The campsites in Lake Garda are under a 40 mile drive from Verona airport and less than 65 miles from Milan Bergamo. Lake Maggiore can easily be reached from either Milan Bergamo (100 miles) or Milan Malpensa (35 miles) airports.
