Camping La Vallée is in Houlgate which in turn is in the Calvados region of Basse Normandy, and roughly 40 KMs to the north east of Caen which is the nearest ferry port (though the actual port is at Ouistreham and not Caen itself). As a resort Houlgate has pretty much everything a family needs to have a great camping holiday. The tourist office is open all year round and there are shopping & leisure activities, everything you need for children and adults: a fine sand beach, casino, cinema, concerts, festivals, beach services, beach clubs for children, an 18-hole golf course, tennis, horse-riding, crazy golf, hiking, climbing, kite surfing, sailing and other water activities for this resort with the "France Station Nautique" quality label.

There is a great atmosphere in the shopping streets of Houlgate and there is a covered market every Thursday which all adds to the flavour of the town.

The "Falaises des Vaches Noires" or "Black cows" cliffs, which are an archeological and environmental listed site are situated on the sea front and are a world wide-known archeological site.

The town has a medieval past which you are best left to explore when you arrive at this fascinating town in Normandy.
