Camping and mobile home holidays in Givrand, Vendee

There are campsites in France which aren't directly on the beach and Givrand is one of them. Situated about 2 KMs inland it is roughly mid way between St Gilles Croix de Vie and Bretignolles sur Mer.

You could say that Givrand is a very large hamlet or a very small village, and either would be applicable, but it is a seriously nice little place where you can chill out with no distractions, and we could say that a camping/mobile home holiday here in Givrand would be a peaceful one.

Even though Givrand has no beach to call it's own, the best beaches in the area are very close by on the Corniche Vendeenne - the beach areas of St Hilaire & St Gilles, which are wonderful places to be for sunbathing and all manner of watersports, and there is no shortage of sunshine in the Vendee either so pack some sunblock if you aren't too used to plenty of sun.

If you use little Givrand as a base for seeing the area then there are several places well worth a visit, such as la Roche-sur-Yon which is the capital of the Vendee region - quite a bit of history there for you, and going south down the coast is les Sables d'Olonne which is great for shopping and which also has some seriously good beaches of it's own.

A little further afield is la Rochelle, the old walled city which again has masses of history and lots and lots to see. Pease note though when visiting la Rochelle - do not attempt to drive into the city because you most certainly won't be able to park. Just a few KMs outside the city you will see signs for Park & Ride so take that.

Park & Ride in France is for nothing!  An all day P & R may cost you approximately the same as parking your car in the UK for a couple of hours, and the buses are every 20 mins.
