Camping & mobile home holidays Raguenes Plage, south west Brittany
Raguenes Plage lies on the south west coast of Brittany in Finistere, and a little to the east of more well known resorts such as Beg-Meil, Concarneau which are also on the coast, and the larger towns of Quimper and Quimperle. You will find that quite a few tour operators refer to this area as Nevez, but in actual fact Nevez is a few KMs inland of Raguenes.
The camping site at Raguenes Plage is actually called Raguenes Plage so that could prove confusing when you try to first locate the place after a drive from the ferry port (joke).
There is a beach there, and a nice one at that with a long stretch of golden sand which is just a few minutes’ walk from the campsite and about 300 metres via a quiet path from the site you are staying on.
The local area is also quite delightful with many pretty little towns and villages to explore, and a 10 minute drive away is the equally lovely town of Pont-Aven which was made famous by the painter Paul Gauguin. We would suggest that Pont-Aven is a “must see” during your camping holiday in the area.
Further afield is the city of Quimper which is probably about 25 KMs away by car. Quimper is certainly well worth a visit as there is plenty of history there to absorb as it used to be the ancient capital of la Cornouaille, the most traditional region of Brittany, and you will see shops with flags celebrating the region’s Celtic heritage all through the city. It may be worthy of note that Quimper was settled by the Romans originally
We haven’t sampled the delights of camping in Raguenes Plage personally but we have been assured by some who have that they really enjoyed their holidays there and most of them have made at least one return trip.
