Camping & mobile home holidays in Zagarella, Longeville sur Mer, Vendee
Longeville, or to give the place it’s proper name, Longeville-sur-Mer, is a lovely little place but because Mother Nature decided to make some boundary changes many years ago it is not quite as “sur Mer” as it once was, but it is a Mecca for camping holidays, in a small way that is.
Nevertheless, it is as close as needs be to the sea and the Editor of this website (moi) and family have stayed at a campsite very near to Longeville many times when it was owned by friends of ours. Actually we stayed in les Conches which is a tad nearer the seaside than is Longeville, but the beach, which is supervised in high season, is the same one and it is regularly given Blue Flag status.
Longeville is another little place which we are never quite sure is either a large village or a very small town, but whatever, it is a delightful place and the shopping is at the top of the hill where there is also a car park. Down the hill is a small garage if you have need of mechanical services, and 6 KMs away is the large supermarket of la Tranche – you can’t miss it because it is next to the main road.
You could never think of this place as “bustling” which is Tour Operator speak for Hellishly busy, but even out of season the area becomes busy at weekends when the sea is just right for surfing, because this stretch of beach is one of the best in the Vendee and young people come from all over northern France to surf and stay in their cars, vans or campervans in the campsites and by the side of the road if sites are booked solid.
