Camping & mobile home holidays at Camping Cala Gogo, St Cyprien Plage, Languedoc-Roussillon
Details of Camping Cala Gogo, St Cyprien are further down the page.
Like many resorts in this region there is a tiny bit of confusion between St Cyprien which is the old town and just inshore by around 6 KM, and the Plage bit as in St Cyprien-Plage which is the new town with a beach area facing the Mediterranean Sea.
St Cyprien-Plage is an attractive seaside town which has many amenities and attractions to make your stay enjoyable, and which boasts 342 days sunshine per year. Sounds good to me!
You will find that this little resort just 12 KMs from Perpignan has miles of uninterrupted white sandy beaches and dozens of excellent, reasonably priced restaurants. OK, there are miles and miles of great beaches here but you must also take into account that this major city is only a handful of miles away, and the French love their beaches like no other.
That being the case you must realise that evenings and weekends are in good weather are going to be busy with a capital B, but possibly not quite as frenetic as Canet-Plage just along the coast which we look at on another page.
A long visit to Perpignan is a must now that you're in the area, and the historians amongst you may know that this city is not only the capital of Roussillon but also of French Catalonia and only about 1 hour by car from the Spanish Costa Brava. The city has a strong Catalan identity which dates back to 13th and 14th century when it was the capital of the kingdom of Mallorca.
It has indeed prospered since then of course and is now the largest Catalan city after Barcelona and Lleida in Spain.
There is a mass of history here just waiting to be explored when you take a break from the beaches and the cafes, and we are sure that you would like to take a look around whilst you are camping at St Cyprien.
