Camping and mobile home holidays in the Languedoc-Roussillon

The Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France is a mixture of cities full of culture, mountains, forests and some of the most fantastic beaches in the whole country. It is also home to one of France's most dynamic cities, Montpellier, which has the world's oldest continuously operating university, the Roman cities of Nīmes and Narbonne and Carcassonne which was comprehensively restored in the 19th century.

On this page we follow the coastline from west to east, and the region begins in the west with the border with Spain, 20 or so KMs west of the city of Perpignan, and it is in that area where you meet Argeles-Plage, the first of many camping holiday resorts.

Travelling eastwards along the Mediterranean coast from Argeles you will come to St Cyprien-Plage and then Canet-Plage which is pretty much the beach area of Perpignan. From looking at the map you can tell that this coastal region is sparsely populated with the major towns and cities such as Beziers some distance inland, but back to the coast where you will see Valras-Plage, the tiny Serignan-Plage and Portiragnes-Plage which is only a tad larger.

And then you reach the Cap d'Agde which incorporates the larges Naturist town in Europe - yes, Naturist stands for Nudist in this sense, not wildlife! This is not just a naturist beach but a whole town of naked people.

Marseillan-Plage is the next little resort for camping holidays in Languedoc and way further round the coast is Aigues-Mortes in the heart of the beautiful Camargue, the next resort of any significance.

There are many more small resorts in this beautiful region of southern France just as there are more areas of it such as Cevennes, a mountainous area which is excellent for walking, cycling and climbing.

But wherever you go in the Languedoc we are sure you will enjoy a wonderful camping ot mobile home holiday.
