Camping & mobile home holidays in L’Ocean d’Or, Jard sur Mer, the Vendee
Jard sur Mer lies pretty much mid way between the towns of la Tranche to the south and the much larger town of les Sables d’Olonne to the north. A quiet and peaceful little spot is Jard but it has become most popular over the years for camping holidays for this and other virtues.
It is right on the coast and has a very attractive harbour for which it has to be said it is noted for more than its beaches though there are beaches and an area of rocks where the pleasures of discovering the treasures of the underwater world can keep children and adults alike entertained for hours.
There is a base for divers and windsurfers to the south of the town/village at the Plage du Grand Boisvinet but swimming per se is prohibited because of the rocks, so if you like a swimming beach then the Plage du Pe du Canon is a beautiful beach with fine golden sand and surveillance just to the north of the town.
Walkers, nature watchers (not nudist!) and cyclists can have a great time in le Foret de Longeville which, with a small break for the next door village of St Vincent stretches for about 15 KMs down the coast to the outskirts of la Tranche.
You will find that la Tranche and les Sables feature when telling of any of the villages in this area because that is where the shops and supermarkets are. In this case, the nearest supermarket is on the outskirts of La Tranche about 10 KMs to the south.
We have stayed in this area many times and have enjoyed our camping holidays in the region every time, just as we hope you will enjoy yours.
