Camping and mobile home holidays in the Côte d'Azur
About the Côte d'Azur
The Côte d'Azur region is the Mediterranean coastline of the southeast corner of France, also including the little state of Monaco. There is no official boundary, but it is usually considered to extend from the French/Italian border in the east to Saint Tropez, Hyères or Cassis in the west.
This is the same area we Brits call Provence and/or the French Riviera.
The Côte d'Azur coastline is approximately 560 miles of both sand and shingle beaches, and along the way you will come across such famous and mega expensive places such as St Tropez, Frejus & St Raphael, Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Villefranche and of course, Monaco and its capital Monte Carlo.
The Côte d'Azur is lovely and you will find that camping and mobile home holidays in the region cost precisely the same as anywhere else in France, as does the use of the beaches, but there the similarity ends because the Côte d'Azur is famously expensive for anything and everything you want to buy.
There are little to no big tides in the Mediterranean so surfing can be problematic, but all other watersports are catered for, as is the noble art of sunbathing and getting that special Mediterranean tan which is so widely recognised and admired.
The French Riviera is a major yachting and cruising area with several marinas along the coastline. According to the Côte d'Azur Economic Development Agency, each year the Riviera hosts 50% of the world's superyacht fleet, with 90% of all super yachts visiting the region's coast at least once in their lifetime.
Getting to your camping resort in the Côte d'Azur:
The distance from Calais to Cannes is roughly between 571.69 miles to 621.4 miles depending on the route taken.
The distance from Caen ferry port to Cannes is roughly between 483.75 miles to 525.81 miles.
To get there with any speed at all you will need to use the autoroutes, and that could cost a fair few shekels, and the same applies when driving from Caen.
