Camping & mobile home holidays in Brittany, northwest France
Brittany has been a Mecca for British tourists for many a year, and you will have no difficulty at all in finding a resort to suit you and your family, in fact, this region of France is arguably more geared for families than anywhere else in the country.
There is so much for everyone here in Brittany, masses of history wherever you go, gorgeous beaches, great food and don't forget the wine either!
Brittany is truly accessible from the northern French ports, and if we take Benodet on the southern coast as an example then Roscoff is a mere 76 miles away, St Malo 130 and Caen about 200, whilst Calais is 465 which is ok if that is all you have to drive in a day, but if you have 5 hours or so driving in England before your crossing then for most people it means either taking another ferry route of having an overnight stop somewhere.
Camping and mobile home sites are scattered all over Brittany, and there are more of them here than in most other French regions, possibly because it is close to the UK and, therefore, there is less driving for young families. There are some inland camping sites such as Dol-de-Bretagne which lies 7 KMs from the Baie du Mont-St-Michel, but the bulk of them are sited along the coastline.
Travelling from northeast to west they follow the coast around Finisterre and back in a south easterly direction and passing resorts such as Concarneau, Benodet, Carnac to the Golfe du Morbihan, but in between all these larger resorts are masses of small ones which are to many to mention on this page.
Brittany is well served by a superb road system, so pretty well anywhere you want to go is accessible either on good single track roads, dual carriageways with virtually no other traffic, and the odd autoroute here and there.
