Camping & mobile home holidays in la Mané Guernehué, Baden, southern Brittany

Camping Le Mané Guernehué is ideally located in the Breton countryside roughly 700 metres from the town of Baden in the massive Golfe du Morbihan with its hundreds of tiny islets making sailing extremely difficult.

Le Mane is a family run campsite with superb facilities, and is situated atop a fairly steep hill which adds greatly to views of the surrounding landscape. The parc has a swimming pool with slides as well as a jacuzzi, sauna, bar and a restaurant. The already excellent pool complex has recently been upgraded with a purpose built indoor pool.

The best beaches here are roughly 6 KMs away at Île aux Moines where you can enjoy the south facing beaches, rock pools and coves, so there is plenty of exploring to be done here for all ages.

During the high season of July and August the parc staff organise daytime and evening entertainment for the whole family, so if that floats your boat then this place is for you.

Just a few short kilometres away from your base in Baden is the city of Vannes which is again located on the Gulf of Morbihan at the mouth of two rivers, the Marle and the Vincin.

It was in 1759 when Vannes was used as the staging point for a planned French invasion of Britain. A large army was assembled there, but it was never able to sail following the French naval defeat at the Battle of Quiberon Bay in November 1759.

Due to the highly nationalistic temperament which the French have in spades it may be unwise to mention this topic when striking up a conversation with the locals as they are known to be a tad touchy about battles lost. Hmm.

Of course, modern Vannes is a large and very thriving city and at its centre is the Vieux Vannes, the original ancient walled city. All in all it is well worth taking time out of your camping holiday to visit.

The Millau Viaduct spanning the Tarn Valley is part of the A75-A71 Autoroute (Motorway / Freeway) from Paris to Montpellier, and is located in the Aveyron départment in southern France. The Viaduct toll charge (2013) to cross the bridge is € 6.40 for cars, rising to € 8.20 during the peak summer months of July and August. It has been made “vertigo free” as the road is a good distance from the edge of the bridge so passengers cannot look down from it.
